XPlay on G4tv voted the New Super Mario bros for DS was the best platformer of the year for 2006 so i dunno i never got to play that.

But best mario game still has to be the snes super mario all stars + super mario world. Particularly the lost levels imo.

That was sorta lame i thought, it was still good though, just a bit too easy for me, i think the best mario game top 3 are (in no order)

1. super mario bros 3
2. super mario 64
3. are we including all of the spin-offs like mario cart and mario tennis?

Galaxy when it comes out but right now I would say Mario Kart 64 or Super Mario 64
