Help me please

I am on snowpeak ruins on Wii ZELDA i have the ball on chain type thing
and i am on the second bit of the BLOCK PUZZLE where i have to smash the ice off the swith and the ice covered block.....question is....
Because i have already smashed the ice off the switch does this make it harder or will i have to start the level again and smash it after

I am really stuck .... I have been pushing them around ofr about half an hour with no luck
