    Actually, he's right.

Plasma has a horrible lifespan, in addition to costing a bundle for horrible picture.

Sure, the high contrast might look pretty, but it doesn't do you much good when the screen is limited to 1024 x 1024(it isn't even capable of pulling off the minimum 1280x720 for sub-par HD) resolution and most movies are not filmed with high contrast images(ie, everything in an action movie is either bright and vibrant or darkly shaded).

LCD, or Liquid Crystal Displays. They're flat screen and flat panel and unlike plasma TVs, they don't have burn in.

Nope, its definately LCD's that die.

LCD televisions eventually die after a certain amount of hours, like i said, thats why plasma screens are reccomended.

    Enoch was right.

No, their coming out with the new Plasmas that will wiststand 10000+ hours. LCD are the big thing right now (Pimp My Ride, 7 inch monitors anyone? ) Did you notice how quickly Plasmas came and went? They were around the mall and now their no where to be found, LCDs are being sold everywhere, every size.

Everything in this signature except for this text was made by Wiired, he is my creator and almighty.

Read this if you're not sure what to buy. It makes a lot of good points and comparisons. LCD and Plasma are pretty well even, but for me, Plasma has more benefits in this guide, as some of the features that get a thumbs up for the LCD, are things that I wont need.

Read that and make up your own mind. Make sure you go to a store and check out some display models before you jump to conclusions.

Uh, actually, top of the line plasmas have been tested at a mere 30,000 hours(3 years constant, 8 at 10 hours TV viewing a day), whereas, LCD screens have a 60,000 hour minimum.

Furthermore, when LCDs die, all that is necessary is a lamp replacement($100). When plasmas die, it's time to buy a new plasma.

Do your homework before stating facts you can't back up.

In addition, the only benefit that plasma has over any other display technology is higher contrast ratios, which is trivial when you're comparing a 10000:1 contrast ratio with 1024 x 1024 max resolution display with a 2000:1 contrast ratio with a 1920 x 1080 max resolution display.

In the end, everything pales in comparison to resolution when shopping for a large screen display.
