The older systems had archetypes. The newer ones have actual character development, and allowed characters to develop outside a specific "job". I thought the characters were very individual in the later ones, even if they could use magic and still hit a 9999 with a sword...Originally Posted by Zackh321

FFVIII is my fave because of the story was entertaining, the characters looked realistic, characters acted realistic (except for Zell, lol) and the battle system was good, drawing magic i liked, it was 4 discs, laguna, ward, and kiros were cool, and the music was just excellent. i love the ****ing boss theme, that is the SHIT!
AND THE ****ING CINEMATICS WERE ****ING GREAT FOR ITS ****ING TIME! BETTER THAN MOST OF THE ****ING CINEMATICS I SEE ****ING TODAY IN ****ING GAMES! HARD TO ****ING BELIVE BUT ITS ****ING TRUE! I BET YA ALOT OF ****ING PEOPLE WOULD ****ING AGREE WITH ****ING ME!!!
sorry for my ****ing language. *calms the **** down*
the junction system was good too.
in my opinion, final fantasy started going downhill since 10, i hate the battle system! active time bar is the best!
FFVII is a very close second, i like it for most of the reasons of VIII but it just didn't have as good of a "feel" or "vibe", you know what i mean?
oh and i have some questions.
1. doesn't Headmaster Cid look like Robin Williams?
2. Dont ya think Zell has ADHD?
now a statement.
if you haven't named rinoa's dog yet, switch it to the name Anal. you'll see why i told you to do this.
BTW FF8 is my fave game of all time tieing with Zelda oot.

FF Tactics for PSX. It has the most replay value of any FF.
After that I would pick FF1, IV, and V.
FF IX was amazing...the last installment on the psone was the greatest thing since canned bread.
Call of Duty: World at War
Final Fantasy XII gets my vote basically because the battle system is a lot better than FFX and Balthier is the greatest character in videogame history. The ending of the game is a lot like Return of the Jedi and I like that movie too.
The good thing about FFXII's characters is that they all lost friends and family because of the war and they want to destroy the Empire because of that,Spoiler Alert!but in the end they realise that there is nothing they can do to bring them back and instead of characters that want revenge, they turn into characters that just want to end the war.
I liked FFX's story as well. It was amazingly deep. Of course there is the romance and at the endThe thing I like most, however, is how they incorporated religion in the game. (I won't go further on that one because I don't want to start a debate )Spoiler Alert!the creature is dead and the main character disappears making the ending both happy and sad at the same time. Of course they had to screw that up by making that piece of crap sequel.

I'm Insanity Prawn Boy! I'm on the Moon!
Ofcourse the best is Final Fantasy IV. Real characters, with a real plot, with real twists. Final Fantasy VI was also a great game, and I enjoyed Final Fantasy VII too....But after VII, the rest were utter jokes. I've given up on the series now, as I associate it with 12 year old Naruto fans.
This is one of my favorite FF games so far and its pretty fun and cool too!
I cant wait to get "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates" and it comes out at 3/11/08.. right after Super Smash Bros Brawl is out, haha.
