Yep, the gamecube and wii portions of the system are pretty much separate is what I understood, which makes me curious how gamecube controllers will work with SSB.

Because when you use a gamecube game it goes into a GAMECUBE mode, which disables any wii functions, thats why you have to turn off the wii to go back to the wii menu. But because ssbb is a wii game you can use any controller, like a VC Game.

that is the dumbest thing about the wii, they should definitely fix that with an update. There's absolutely no reason at all you shouldn't be able to just hit the home button when you're ready to stop playing the game cube game. No, you have to get all the way up out of your comfort zone and physically turn the system off. That's just laziness on their part.
