Which football (American) game is best for kids

My son wants to play football video games, but the current NCAA and Madden offerings are over his head.

I know that some of the stuff is simpler on the Wii. But I don't know anyone that has actually played any of the Wii games. As far as I know there have only been three football games on the Wii; Backyard Football, NCAA, and Madden. Are there any other options? Of these three which one is simplest? I understand that the controls and game quality vary from year to year. Is there a particular year for any of these that would be easier to pick up, or a particular year to avoid?

The current Madden Game for the Wii should be pretty easy. It has differnet controls methods and game modes that pick up and play.
