Zelda fans certainy have a lot to look forward to this year. Nintendo is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise, and they've announced a pair of new Zelda games for the Wii and their new 3DS handheld -- The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the former and THe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for the latter.
As part of the celebration, the company has also decided to spruce up the old Ocarina of Time logo with a new design. They've also revealed the new logo for Skyward Sword.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a 3DS remake of the Nintendo 64 original. The gameplay is basically the same, although Nintendo are packing in an option that will elt players sitch to the Master Quest version of the game. Ocarina of Time 3D also comes with new optional control options and the status screen is always vsible on the 3DS' lower screen.
Nintendo has yet to announce an official release date but the company has hinted that June will be the month to watch.
Wii gamers will also get a new taste of Link's adventures in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. This is an entirely new entry in the series and acts as a prelude to Ocarina of Time. The game ditches the series' traditionally separate overworld and dungeon exploration system and will feature a streamlined inventory system and a much easier to read map. The game heavily utilizes Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus to allow for 1:1 weapon controls, particularly with Link's sword.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is set for release sometime this year.
Finally, above is the new logo celebrating the entire franchise's 25th Anniversary. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has hinted at this year's Game Developers Conference that Ocarina of Time 3D and Skyward Sword won't be the only things fans can look forward to during the anniversary. Nintendo is reportedly also working on something exra for the fans that will be revealed sometime this year.
