    Has anyone tried using el cheapo batteries in the wiimote?

    No but i can tell you what it will be like, ive used el cheapo batteries in other devices.

    They will work fine but they wont last for very long, its a false economy to buy cheap batteries. While they are a fraction of the price they only last for a fraction of the time, so you don't save any money in the long run.

    Best bet is to buy re-chargeable batteries and a charger

    I've bought cheap batteries before and they died really fast, it's more convienent to just buy better ones.
