VGA converter (Sound)

Recently i asked about how to connect a Wii to a Computer Monitor.

I was told about a VGA converter..

Just wondering will i have any sound if i do that? because where would my sound come from. No inbuilt sound in my monitor so?

No VGA doesn't transmit sound. You will have to route your audio through some other method. If you are going to have it right next to your PC you can probably just use the audio in on your PC.

What does using VGA have to do with his PC being turned on?
But ya your method would work too.

The point of a VGA adapter is so the PC doesnt have to be turned on sucking 300+ watts of power and making a bunch of noise. Otherwise you could use a TV capture card.

But they generally have too much lag for gaming.

You'll need a component cable and then a component to VGA transcoder. With the cost of both, you can almost get a new LCD monitor that can take composite/S-video/VGA.

I don't think they are very expensive. I'm not going to look it up, but I think it will only cost you $50 or so. You don't necessarily need component cables either.

The component to VGA transcoder is around $60 and up. If you don't get a Wii component cable, are you going to use composite output? Then you need an external tuner box with video in. But the picture quality would be much worse.
