    Wii Remote

    Hello

I live in Australia and we use the PAL format not NTSC. I was wondering does it matter where I buy a wii remote? or does it have to be from a PAL area?

    Thanks,
    Cantona

The motes are region free..I would say...Just like a regular remote...Doesn't matter if it's pal or Ntsc...

EDIT: Lol... Indeed it is Region Free no need to try and find some Pal remotes. They don't have pal wiimotes nor ntsc wiimotes...they are just universal wii motes.

I have used a Japanese remote (which is NTSC) on my Australian PAL Wii so I believe you should not have any issues.

PAL and NTSC are video standards. Remotes are region free

They are technically video standards, but that is what everything goes by. IE: power source, updates, languages, etc.

I've never heard anyone refer to PAL/NTSC when talking about power. They are video modes and have nothing to do with AC mains current.

Actually, the video signal is dependent on the cycle of the current....

    How so? Please explain.

Particularly curious since there's a 50 Hz version of PAL and a 60 Hz version of PAL.

NTSC and PAL are color-coding technologies. These signals are analog and have an inherent vertical refresh rate of 50 Hz or 60 Hz (PAL can be either). The vertical refresh rate is independent of the mains AC frequency.

If you need further proof, just look here:

    compared to:

In particular, note Greenland, Burma, lower Japan, and parts of South America.
