one GC controller won't work

My brother bought 2 gamecube controllers for my wii, 1 doesn't work with it, we tried it at our friends houses wii's and it works just fine, any ideas why it won't?

maybe the slot on the Wii you enter it in is somehow damaged, try putting it into the 3rd or 4th slot and see if it works. (assuming its going into the second slot for 2nd player)

no we tryed all the slots and it still doesn't work
