Leaving the Wii On (At Different Stages)

You know how there is a counter that you get in your mail after you play a game for a certain amount of time? Does the timer continue when your not playing/moving the remote? You know when the screen goes dim from not using it? And what about when your at Wii Menu's/Channels?

Yes it does (on the channels). I left my Wii alone for about 30 minutes yesterday and it counted every minute. I'm not sure about games though.
