router HELPP!!!

I recently bought a netgear wireless router now the problem is that i have to connct a cord from the modem to the router. I am using my modem which is a modem/router is there any way this is going to work as from what i can see its not registring that my billion modem/router is actually a modem i tried using my neighbours dlink modem and that works fine does any one has any suggestions on how i could use my billion for this network set up..

caus u need 2 connect your dsl 2 yo router with ethernet cable or usb

yes i know but i am trying to use my billion modem/router as my modem to recieve the dsl and then i link the billion to my netgear wireless router but the connection does not seem to work... is this because there r 2 routers in my setup???
