To update or not to update NTSC Wii JAP

Hi, i just bought a pre-modded Wii NTSC JAP (I think its done using WiiKey). I would like to play online, multiplayer etc which would require internet. Should I update the 24Wii thing and the update for the machine? I've been reading that theres alot of machines which does not work again after updating.

The machines that dont work again after updating are the ones who DIDNT connect to the internet and get the latest updates. They used the US Paper Mario game on a Pal Wii and the Wiikey allowed the game to run. It detected that the Wii was an old version and applied the US update which in turn bricked it.

If you want to avoid such thing you SHOULD update from the internet!
