Connecting Wii to a windows workgroup network?

    Hello,

I have home network based on 4 PC's all under Windows XP.
The 4 computers are connected through a Belkin wireless router
    (G+ MIMO router F5D9230-4).
One computer is connected to the internet via an USB DSL modem and act as gateway.
All computers have access to the internet via this "gateway".

When I configure Wii internet, it finds the Wifi Network but it cannot connect to internet.

    Is there a solution?
    Thanks and regards.

is there a particular reason why you are using a pc as "router/gateway" rather
than letting the belkin do that job?

i can't quite understand why the Wii won't connect, have you tried manually
inputting the relevant IP / default router (gateway) and ISP DNS addresses
    into the Wii?

is there a firewall on the gateway pc blocking the Wii?

I'm using the Belkin as a router only.
The internet modem I have is only USB and has no ethernet connection.
Therefore I have to connect it directly to one computer of the network.

Windows XP allows me to have all other computers connected to internet when in that Workgroup.

Regarding security, I use Norton IS 2007. all members of the workgroup have access to the required ports, and regarding WiFi, the Belkin is allowing access to the network through WPA at a first level, and at a second one, is checking MAC address to allow connection (the Wii MAC address is obviously allowed).

My feeling is that the Wii doesn't find any internet connection as it is embedded in the windows system.

i don't think it's due to "embedded" internet.

i think it's more likely due to the Wii not receiving the correct
    IP/DG/DNS values.

have you tried manually inputting SSID / WPA or WEP key and
also the relevant IP / DG / DNS values?

i've also seen somewhere that windows xp (home) cannot support
more than 5 networked devices....don't know how true this is because
    i've always used xp pro.

personally, and i know this is not the answer you're looking for, but i would
ditch that convoluted method you're currently using and get a modem which
allows the router to function as a gateway.
