Optimum Wi-Fi Possibilities

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I apologize if I am, but I don't think there is another thread like this as I searched but couldn't find anything.

So I was wondering, what would the best setup be for online gaming on the Wii? Like using the Wii LAN Adaptor, or connecting wirelessly with a router? Also, what internet connection speeds are recommended to get the best out of online gaming? I'd say I know some basics so don't get too technical please. Nice one..

My wii runs around 1200kbps, During mario strikers and madden I always have the highest connection stars.

wii lan adaptor would be faster and more reliable than wireless, however wireless works fine. Its your choice (i use wireless, dont find LAN adapator neccessary unless you are a bandwidth freak )

connection doesnt really matter as long as u have at least DSL/Cable

tbh, it really isn't an issue even if you use the "older" 802.11b (11Mbps)
wifi protocol unless that is, your broadband speed is faster than 11Mbps.

the Wii's wifi supports 802.11b & 802.11g (54Mbps), the latter is currently
unobtainable from ISP's....the fastest here in the UK at the moment is iirc,
20Mbps so theoretically the Wii can handle traffic 2.7 times faster than an
ISP can provide.

in reality, it's doubtful that you will sustain 54Mbps for long periods as it
fluctuates during use.

the LAN adaptor (wired ethernet) can theoretically handle 100Mbps which
once again is waaaaaaaaay faster than current broadband speeds.

basically, don't worry too much about the LAN side of things as even if it
drops to a fairly low speed, your Wii set up will easily cope.
the issue is what your broadband speed is and also what your ping rate
is.....the WAN side is the potential bottleneck which can cause lag.
