    Updating Wii, Mod Chip Affected

    I just bought a Wii that has a modchip installed (not sure which one specifically)
    after connecting to the internet using my wireless connection, it asked me if i want to update it. so I searched for a site to ask:

    if i update my modchipped wii, will it get affected or bricked or will anything
     happen to it at all?

    It could possibly get bricked. Nintendo have been trying to neutralise pirating as much as possible. Although I'm not sure if some games need an update to run.

    my friend has an 06 wii and put a wiikey in right away... it does not accept updates since OCT '07... doesn't get bricked, though

    i understand the wiikey firmware could be updated via ISO burned to CD or DVD... then it will accept wii updates...
