is the wii like the DS? in that it needs the special little plug in the usb port dealy? or will it just connect via any wireless internet hotspot?

if you already have a wireless internet signal then you can connect the wii straight out of the box without any special attachments.

The DS could also use just any old access point. You really don't need the USB adapter at all (and I would recomend it only if you absolutely can't get a router)
