I have always been able to send mail to my wii from my hotmail...and rich text editor is on.

Perhaps you were just trying to send them earlier in the week when the servers were bogged.

It takes time for your account to be approved by your Wii after you reply to the email it sends, and until it does, messages you send just don't go anywhere. They won't show up on your Wii and they won't bounce back. At least that is my theory and experience thus far, and it explains why yours started working after a bit.
