    The Official Pokemon Ingame Challenge Thread

    Note: This is the old challenge thread, with out-dated rules and is now inactive. Please take all challenges to the new thread.






    Welcome to the Official Ingame Challenge Thread, a place where users take it apon themselves to take on both easy and hard challenges for any and all pokemon games. These challenges are all about beating the ingame story mode of pokemon, while limiting what you can use on your team, as well as a few other things.

    This is all about testing yourself to see how good you truly are, or just for the fun of the challenge - it's also for recognition and bragging rights, even. In the next post will be the challenges you can choose from. Whenever you're doing a challenge, post about accepting the challenge and anything else the challenge requires, from then on, keep track of your progress here.

    Also, anyone who completes a challenge per any game will be recorded in the next post, recognizing that player's skill for as long as Wiichat stands. Now then, start those challenges! Remember, if you have any suggestions for the challenges or even a new one, you're certainly free to post them. Feel free to comment or ask any questions as well.

    * Also, credit goes to Nick Atack for the original idea in the Pokemon Social Group, as well as another forum for the info used to create the challenges.

    Monotype Challenge

    Basically, you go through a game using only one type of pokemon. Post here with what type you choose, and what game.
    ----------
    Rules

    1. You may only use one type of pokemon eg. Only Grass pokemon, only Fire pokemon, etc... You can't use one Fire and one Grass.
    2. You may only use one of each pokemon eg. You can't have two Pikachus
    3. You can't use two pokemon from the same evolution line eg. You can't use Pikachu and Raichu. Split Evolutions are fine eg. Poliwrath and Politoad or Slowbro and Slowking.
    4. If your starter is not the same type you chose, you may use your starter until you catch a pokemon of your type.
    5. You can use HM slaves of a type other than your own and may go into battle, but you can't attack with them in battle. You may only use items/switching out for their turn.
    6. You are allowed two trades in your game. Trading to evolve pokemon, level up, give them TMs/HMs, giving them vitamins and etc. is not allowed in the two trades. Trading pokemon you can already get isn't allowed in the trades either. What does count is trading to obtain a pokemon you wouldn't be able to get yet eg. A sneasel before Snowpoint. This pokemon must be an egg or just hatched, and then trained from scratch on the game you are going to beat.

    Scramble Challenge

    You go through a game with a team picked by others. The first six people to post pokemon are the pokemon you use, each user may choose two pokemon for the player. You can build the movesets of the pokemon used in this challenge.

    Rules

    1. No picking useless pokemon, eg. Magikarp...
    2. No Duplicates.
    3. No choosing unevolved pokemon.
    4. One of the pokemon used has to be one of the starters.
    5. You may choose up to two pokemon per person per game. For example, if they choose two games, then you may choose two pokemon for each game.
    6. You can't use two pokemon from the same evolution line, eg. You can't use Pikachu and Raichu. Split Evolutions are fine eg. Poliwrath and Politoad or Slowbro and Slowking.
    7. You are only allowed to trade a pokemon over if it is not obtainable within your game, if you do trade it over, it must be an egg/just hatched.

    Single Challenge

    You go through the game using a single pokemon.
    ----------
    Rules

    1. You can use HM slaves, as long as you don't battle with them.
    2. You may use another pokemon until you get your specified pokemon.
    3. You are only allowed to trade a pokemon over if it is not obtainable within your game, if you do trade it over, it must be an egg/just hatched.
    4. You may use other pokemon as "fodder", an example is my main pokemon is getting low on HP, I can switch in another pokemon I've caught to take a hit, heal my main pokemon, and switch him back in. Or my main pokemon has just been knocked out, so I switch in a fodder poke so I can revive it, then switch it back in. You may NOT attack or heal these fodder pokemon via items, however.
    5. In the case of needing to catch pokemon to complete your pokedex (such as for obtaining HM 05 Flash in FR/LG), you MAY use other pokemon you've caught to battle and weaken wild pokemon.

    Unevolved Challenge

    Players must go through the game without evolving any of there Pokemon on their team.
    ----------
    Rules:

    1. Players must not evolve their Pokemon under any circumstance.
    2. Players cannot choose a Pokemon for their party that can evolve by friendship, like Chansey.
    3. If a player catches a Pokemon that can still evolve, but it has evolved before, such as Nidorino, they can still use it on their team, just so long as they don't evolve it.
    4. You are only allowed to trade a pokemon over if it is not obtainable within your game, if you do trade it over, it must be an egg/just hatched. The pokemon may be in it's base form or baby form, eg. you can use either Pichu or Pikachu.

    Moveset Challenge

    You pick your team, but others pick your movesets.
    ----------
    Rules:

    1. There has to be atleast 2 attacking moves per pokemon.
    2. Please do not assign useless moves eg. splash or charm.
    3. You may only asign a specific TM to one pokemon only unless the person taking the challenge says otherwise, because without trading this won't be possible.
    4. You may only trade to obtain eggs for your team, or to give a pokemon a TM - this TM cannot be a move the pokemon isn't required to learn for it's moveset, however. Giving a pokemon an HM move before you obtain it in the other game in forbidden.
    5. You may only assign two moves of the same type maximum.
    6. You may use any legal moves(remember, no HMs) until your pokemon can configure their required movesets.

    Speed Challenge

    Complete the game in as little time as possible.

    Combined Challenge

    The hardest challenge. Challengers can combine two or more of the above challenges for an even harder challenge. Eg. Scramble and monotype, scramble and moveset, etc.

    Rules:

    1. The same rules for each challenge still spply. Eg. If you pick a scramble and monotype, see the scramble and monotype sections. The only thing overruled is the Speed challenge's "no trading" policy, which is replaced by the trading policy of the current challenge/s.

    EDIT:

    Combined Challenge Extra: All Trainer Challenge

    You can add this extra "rule" to any challenge, which will count as a combined challenge if it does not already. If you add this to your challenge, you must face every trainer you encounter on screen, as well as any trainer that you know their location. Skipping any trainers makes this challenge void. Purposely skipping and then returning to defeat trainers after any period of time is not allowed.

    When adding in this challenge, all other rules of the challenge(s) still apply.

    Rules:

    1: You do not need to challenge a gym as soon as you can, you may play ahead, but cannot get the next badge before the previous. You MUST get all badges in order.


    Alright, that's all of the challenges! You can go ahead and choose any challenge(s) you want. If you beat the Combined Challenge, all the challenges you beat will be recognized both together under Combined Challenge, and seperatly in the other challenges. I'll be starting my own challenges soon.


    EDIT: New challenge up!

    The Battle Tower Challenge - credit goes to Strype McClaine.

    The only competitive battling challenge. Basically, this challenge is done by combining another or multiple other challenges' teams/rules, with trying to get as many Battle Tower wins as you want.

    Rules:

    1. The rules for the challenge/s you picked are all still active for the challenge, however, trading will be allowed no matter what, and there are no move restrictions.

    2. For the Moveset challenge, you are allowed to choose just one of your pokemon's movesets. Also, since it is only a team of three pokemon being used, only one moveset per poster, and only the first two.

    3. For the Scramble challenge, you still choose one of your pokemon. Just as rule two, since you're using only a team of three, only the first two posters decide the pokemon to be used.

    4. For the Single challenge, you must use two different pokemon on the team which are completely useless via moves AND species, e.g. a Magikarp and Feebas. The two useless pokemon must simply be unusable with no damaging/status effect moves.

    Remember, the battle tower was was present in pokemon Crystal and all games after, so Crystal, Generation 3, and Generation 4 games are all allowed!

    I think I'll take the monotype challenge for my Sapphire.

    Double post - bite me.

    Well, considering I've finished all the preparations, I'll finally be taking up a challenge - a combined challenge.

    I'll be doing Mono Type, combined with Unevolved, and combined with Single. So, I'll be choosing the type bug. I'm sure you're about to think "IS HE GOING TO RAISE A CATERPIE LOLOLOL?" or something of that nature, but I assure you, I'll complete this challenge easily. Eggs can go a long way.

    In terms of what I'll be using as a bug type, it'l be Scyther. Unevolved from Scizor, is a bug type, and ofcourse, is a single poke. So yeah, accepted. If I'd have to double post here to keep my progress, I'll post in the Social Group instead, btw. And the game I'll do this for? ..Hmmmm, Platinum. Gives more of a challenge, don't you think?
