Any character could be great in the hands of a skilled player, Marth isnt the absolute best person for anyone. Ive defeated veteran marth players with pichu on some occasions... I always use Mario for serious matches, I never lost playing with him.

Needless to say that Mario is my prized character

No it doesn't require a nunchuk, but you can play with one.

I think the best character is luigi, I racked up 470,000 KO's with him. I never lose with luigi, but I use link when i'm just playing by myself.
