    KO Potential and Weight Class

Alright guys, here's the second part of the Character Info, KO Potential and Weight Class.

Let's get some things straight first:

A character's KO potential is their physical attack power. The characters are divided into three groups based on how much physical strength they possess. The higher their physical strength, the easier it is from them to KO an opponent with a smash attack. A top top-tier character represents the most powerful group, followed by the middle tier and the bottom or lower tier.

A character's weight determines how easy it is for them to get KO'd by an opponent. The heavier the character, the harder it is for them to get KO'd. All the characters are divided into three weight classes: heavyweights are the hardest to KO, followed by middleweights and lightweights.

Let's get this thing started, shall we?

    Bowser
Bowser makes up for his slow sped with an immense amount of power. As one of the strongest and heaviest characters in the game, he’s top tier in KO potential and is a heavyweight. Bowser is difficult to KO and can easily take out opponents if you overcome his speed issues.

    Captain Falcon
Captain Falcon is a fairly balanced character when it comes to his KO potential and prevention. He’s mid-tier in attack and is a hair between a heavyweight and a middleweight. Couple this with Falcon’s insane speed and he’s a solid character choice.

    Diddy Kong

Diddy is definitely now the heavyweight that Donkey Kong is. He is low-tier when it comes to attack power, and he is on the lighter side of the middleweight section. However, though he is small, he can last longer than some of the other small characters.

    Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong has always been a heavyweight powerhouse, and that doesn’t change this time around. He’s one of the heaviest characters and has one of the highest attack power levels in the game. Some of his attacks may be slow but he won’t need to hit you very much to score a KO.

    Falco
Falco, Fox, and Wolf are very similar in many ways, but their KO potential and prevention are relatively opposite. Falco is the only one of the three who’s mid-tier in attack power, but they’re balanced out in that Falco is also the lightest of the three, sitting near the middle of the lightweight group.

    Fox
Falco, Fox, and Wolf are very similar in many ways, but their KO potential and prevention are relatively opposite. Fox is at the top of the lightweight group, being heavier than Falco but lighter than Wolf. He also sits right in the middle of the three when it comes to attack, but he’s still in the low-tier section.

    Ganondorf
In terms of attack power, Ganondorf ranks at the very bottom of the top-tier characters. This is because many of his special moves have a certain finesse that the other heavy hitters lack. In addition, he is one of the heaver characters, landing himself in the middle of the heavyweight group, making him difficult to KO.

    Ice Climbers

The Ice Climbers aren’t very powerful without using some advanced strategies. Under normal circumstances, they fall into the bottom tier of attack power, and no matter what kind of trickery you use, they are at the middleweight class’s low end.

    Ike
Ike is a heavyweight and one of the most powerful characters in the game, residing in the top tier of attack power. He may not have the speed of the faster characters, but he’s faster than most of the other heavyweights and heavy hitters. His attacks are a bit slow, but the reward is tremendous.

    Jigglypuff
Jigglypuff is right in the middle of the mid-tier for attack power, but it’s also one of the lightest characters in the game. This makes it an easy target for a potential KO, but with power of its smash attack and special moves, it can hold its own battle.

    King Dedede

King Dedede is hands down the most powerful character in the game. He can KO an opponent at the lowest damage of any character with his forward smash attack, and his fully charged Jet Hammer isn’t far behind. He’s also one of the heaviest characters, making him a difficult opponent to KO.

    Kirby
In previous games, Kirby wasn’t much of a powerhouse. However, his attack power has been slightly increased in Brawl. His attack power ranks in the middle tier’s upper half, but unfortunately he weighs in as a lightweight.

    Link
For a hero of Link’s stature, he’s a bit lacking when it comes to KO potential and prevention. He’s a middleweight, so he won’t get KO’d as easily as some other characters, but he’s in the lower tier of attack power. Link balances this out with a wide variety of projectile attacks and he ability to tether recover with his throw.

    Lucario
Lucario is one of the weakest characters in the game in terms of physical attack power. It’s a powerful character, but almost all its power comes from its special moves instead of physical attacks. However, to compensate for its low physical attack power, it is also one of the heaviest characters and difficult to KO.

    Lucas
Lucas may be a little boy, but he holds firm at mid-tier’s top for attack power. He’s also in the dead center of the middleweight class. He’s a tricky character to use, but he’ll last a good while against most characters, and he can dish out the damage.

    Luigi
Luigi is solid when it comes to both KO potential and weight class. He’s near the top of the mid-tier in attack power and near the top of the middleweight class. He can last a while during a battle and can KO his opponents with relative ease.

    Mario
Mario has always been a balanced, average character, and that doesn’t change in Brawl. His attack power is mid-tier, and falls into the middleweight class. He’s not difficult to KO, but he’s not easy to KO either. He can hold his own in combat, but not as well as some other characters.

    Marth
Marth is unique, because to get the most damage from his sword attacks, you must hit their sweet spot. In most cases, this is the sword’s tip. If you sweet-spot Marth’s attacks he falls into the mid-tier of attack power; otherwise he drops into the bottom tier. He’s also at the very bottom of the middleweight class, making him somewhat easy to KO.

    Metaknight
Metaknight is a lightweight and ranks towards the bottom of the mid-tier in terms of attack power. His attacks are more about deception and nimbleness as opposed to raw power, and his high recovery ability makes him difficult to KO despite his weight.

    Mr. Game and Watch
Mr. Game and Watch ranks in at the top of the mid-tier for attack power, but his weight makes him one of the lightest characters in the game. He can easily be KO’d, but he dishes out damage and recovers well to compensate for his weakness.

    Ness
Ness is right in the middleweight class’s center, but he’s one of the more powerful characters in the game. He’s at the top of the mid-tier for physical attack power. This is backed up even further by the immense damage he can inflict with his special moves.

    Olimar
Olimar’s attack power varies depending on the Pikmin he uses to attack. However, with his most powerful Pikmin (Purple), he lands in the middle of the mid-tier for attack power. Unfortunately, the number of Pikmin Olimar has at his command don’t add to his weight: he still clocks in as a lightweight who won’t stand up to much punishment before being KO’d.

    Peach
Peach is in the bottom tier of attack power and falls into the lightweight category. Her physical attack strength varies depending on the weapon she pulls out when performing her forward smash attack, but even with the Golf Club (her most damaging weapon), she still lacks significant attack power.

    Pikachu
As expected, Pikachu falls into the lower tier of physical attack power and is also a lightweight. However, some of his special moves are more powerful than its physical attacks, partially making up for its lack of physical strength.

    Pit
Pit is a middleweight, right in the middle of all the characters. He won’t generally get KO’d at low damage percentages, but he won’t last as long as any of the heavyweights. At the same time, Pit is somewhat weak; his attack power is in the bottom tier compared to the other characters.

    R.O.B.
R.O.B. is a heavyweight, but he ranks in the low tier in terms of attack power. Opponents will have a hard time KO’ing him, but he’ll have equally difficult time KO’ing them.

    Pokemon Trainer
Charizard is one of the most powerful characters and falls into the top tier for KO potential. Ivysaur and Squirtle are both middle tier, but Squirtle is almost low tier. Oddly enough, Squirtle is heavier than Ivysaur, falling into the middleweight category, while Ivysaur is a lightweight. However, Charizard is a heavyweight and one of the heaviest characters.

    Samus/Zero Suit Samus
Samus has relatively low attack power, falling into the low-tier category. However, her Power Suit makes her a heavyweight and difficult to KO. When she loses her Power Suit and changes to Zero Suit Samus, she becomes lightweight and one of the weakest characters in the game, below Samus in the bottom tier of attack power.

    Snake

Snake carries a lot of gear, which makes him a heavyweight and difficult to KO. In addition, he ranks in the top tier in attack power with some extremely damaging smash attacks and a large array of high-tech weaponry.

    Sonic

Sonic is middle of the road when it comes to KO potential and weight class. He’s mid-tier in terms of attack power and is a middleweight. He won’t be extremely hard to KO, but he’ll hang around for a while.

    Toon Link
Compared to older Link, Toon Link is easier to KO due to his lighter weight. He falls into the lower half of the middleweight category, so stay away from the stage’s edge when you’re high in damage. While Toon Link’s special moves are less damaging than older Link’s, his smash attacks have more attack power. This allows Toon Link to KO opponents slightly better than older Link.

    Wario
Wario is a heavyweight, as most would expect from his size, but he falls into the middle tier for KO potential. He’s difficult to KO, but his ability to KO others is only average. However, a fully charged Wario Waft more than makes up for any shortcomings he has in physical strength.

    Wolf
Falco, Fox and Wolf’s KO potential and prevention are relatively opposite. Wolf is the heaviest of the three but still lands in the middleweight class. Oddly enough, he has the lowest attack power of the three and one of the lowest in the game.

    Yoshi
Yoshi clocks in at the bottom of the mid-tier when it comes to KO potential, but he makes up for it by landing in the heavyweight division. He’s difficult to KO, which makes him a somewhat more formidable opponent despite his moderate lack of attack power.

    Zelda/Sheik
Zelda lands herself towards the bottom of the mid-tier when it comes to KO potential, but Sheik is one of the weakest characters in the game, in the bottom tier. Both characters are lightweight and can be KO’d relatively easily.

    --------------

Well there it is guys, the second part. I plan to be posting the 1v1 strategies tomorrow.

you can't really rank a character's abilities, because it's skill that counts. it's alright if you rank characters for your own entertainment, but really it's different for every person.

    Spoiler Alert!

this isn't overly helpful for strategy... and believe that CF has too high of a rating and Kirby/Metaknight too low. but over all its cool to read. nice post
