I derp'd and forgot to respond to BossFight's mention of the three being clones. Woops.

Falco, Fox, and newcomer Wolf were entirely de-cloned in Brawl, so I'd have to agree. All their similar looking moves have just the right changes to make 'em function notably differently.

... Well, except for Up B. Worst of all being that their Up Bs are terrible lol.

Okay, I see where you guys are coming from and how many actually like the slightly different styles of the similar (I'll use this term now) characters.

But come on. Personally to me, I'd much rather have a roster of entirely unique characters rather than a bunch of similar characters. I already know it's too late because they have made so many of the same characters with their different touches that there will always be those who can't do without them.

I'll say this: I'm fine with a bunch of similar characters, so long as it doesn't affect possible fresh, entirely new characters' spots, merely because they don't want to lose the different options for a similar character. If that is the case, then I stand by my remove the similar characters or too similar movesets. There would be complainers, but completely unique characters and movesets would always outweigh similars. For example, if you had to choose to either scrap Falco and Captain Ganon or Olimar and Sonic, who'd sound better to keep? The characters who are entirely unique, that's for sure.

But since we're on a more powerful system coming up, that SHOULD mean we would be able to keep everyone we have now and add quite a few. So long as the new characters aren't Tanooki Mario, Paper Peach, and Louie.

It is not a matter of how they look

As long as Jigglypuff and Ghirahim are in the game I'll be happy. Toon Link would be nice too, but he's very likely to be replaced.

Agreed. Be it in replacement to clones or similar visuals, the more unique a character is from the others, the better. Variety is the spice of life; and likewise, gaming. Particularly fighting games. But rather than remove said similar characters, their movesets should simply be renewed. If Fox, Falco, and Wolf really were all terrible clones, they all have the potential to not be clones of each other in the slightest. Why lessen the number of possible roster members for the next game when you can not only increase that number, but make the veterans better and more unique as well, yeah? No point in wasting a character's potential.

This is what I'm hoping for. After adding all these characters they very well can't trash them at this point completely. It'd cause an outrage to actually can some of the similar characters mostly not due to their movesets, but because people like playing as the characters themselves. We'll just have to expect the best for the new game.

So other than the topic of the similar pairings, two things I'd like to see are a character aesthetic customization and a more in-depth stage builder. I already expect the stage-builder part to happen though, it was a hit.

Custom Stages also need to be available for wi-fi use as well. With Friends, that should obviously be a given. For With Anybody, stages that follow certain acceptable templates should be allowed as well.

What I mean by that is, simple stage templates would be able to be built upon, i.e Final Destination, Battlefield, etc. and then used for any modes with randoms. Certain elements would have to be banned or limited of course, like you can only place so many damaging hazards, odd things like springs that would really derp up the game aren't usable, horizontal/cieling walls, etc.

Well there is a good reason he would stay. Link essentially represents the 3D Zelda games.

After Wind Waker, though, Toon Link has been the style of character for all 2D (or I guess 2.5D in later cases) Zelda games since. Four Swords, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks. They all use Toon Link's style.

Back to the Stage Builder part though, I like the idea of being able to customize the pre-made stages.
