I've just been given the same story from Nintendo here in Aus. My console has a fault, but when I bought it, I also got an extended 2 year/replacement guarantee from the store (EB Games) so - once they get new consoles in, they’ll replace mine for me. Rang Nintendo to see how to transfer my VC Games - was basically told "Bad Luck!". Exact quote was "No - you can't transfer them. That is why we don't recommend getting extended warrantees as the end user will be out of pocket if something goes wrong". Excuse me? I didn't see anywhere on the box saying "Don't get extended warrantees as it'll cost you!", nor have I ever seen this in an add anywhere!!!
So - in a few years when your console dies, and it's cheaper to get a new one than to get it fixed - tough luck - you've just lost all the VC games you ever bought.
I'm not worried about the Wii breaking down. OK maybe a little bit when it plays GameCube discs and sounds like a jet engine but other than that... It's a Nintendo system. I trust them. PS2 I have an extended service plan on. There's a good reason I've never gotten a service plan on anything from Nintendo.
Have had my PS2 for 5 years now and only problem is that the disk tray becomes stuck sometimes and I must pull it out.
Naruto, Dragonball, Fullmetal Alchemist, Zoids, and Bleach some of the best animes of all time.
You'd think you'd get a seperate "VC profile".
If your Wii goes down, you just get a new one and enter in your account details and you have access to all the games you've bought. it would take like 5 minutes for any programmer to do.
Can't you back up your VC games to an SD card?
Think though the next Nintendo console to come out will be in like 10 - 15 years it will take a while to outdo their current technology and Nintendo doesn't just come out with a new console so they can make more money they have never not made a large advance unlike Sony or Microsoft so by then those VC games will be pretty old

Do they keep a record of each downloaded VC game?
If so, there's no reason not to give you your games back free...
Man, that scares the shit out of me. Like someone said, I guess time to calm it down. AAAAAAhhhhh!!!!! If Nintendo screws us like that, I will be very disappointed. I am not impressed with Nintendo at all. One thing after the other.
Nothing seems to be compatible with anything. Everything is compatible with nothing. Time to keep my mouth shut before I start a tirade. I was kinda hoping we could use these downloads for generations to come. Not going to buy every game 50 ****ing times before I die. All this talk about the SD card is to make us assume shit like that.
yes but the code to those games is supposedly written to your specific wii, or something like thatOriginally Posted by rolnif
