due to the difference in button configuration between SNES and Mega Drive, does anyone know if there is still a level+lives select cheat for Streets of Rage?

In the future, just type in: (name of the game) (cheats) (virtual console) into google.

For example: Streets of Rage Cheats Virtual Console.

All cheats that worked in any original game should also work on the VC, as they're basically straight ports. You just have to adapt the button inputs (all games have an operation guide which show the equivalent buttons).

Although Napalmbrain made a valid point, which I already considered, has anyone actually purchased and tried the old cheats for Streets of Rage? If anyones got the game but hasnt yet tried the cheats would someone mind experimenting please?

you may/will need two controllers, so if you have two GC controllers I assume they will surfice, here are the codes:

Level and Lives Select
Go to the main menu. Hold down (A) + (B) + (C) + RIGHT on controller 2 while selecting Options on controller 1 (best if done with two people). You can now select how many lives you start with and which stage to start on.

Extra continues
Press Left,Left,B,B,B,C,C,C, Start at the title screen.
