Help with controller issue on VC games

Hi - I downloaded Super Mario Bros. 3 and Kirby from NES on the VC and they both worked fine for a little while, but at some point the Wii remote stopped working for both of these games. The buttons simply don't do anything - the only button that seems to work is the plus sign. I have tried power cycling the console several times, and erasing the software and then redownloading it. None of those things worked. Any other suggestions?

Is it just VC games that your controller isn't responding to?

I've never heard of this problem before, and it could be either the Wii or the Wii Remote. If you know anyone else with a Wii, try to use your Wii Remote on their Wii, and/or try using their Wii Remote on your Wii. This would at least help pinpoint what exactly is the problem.
