The Nintendo Wii Triathlon is nearly here! In case you missed my previous announcement of the event, The Gunslingers, thanks to the hard work of GS*Captain Scarlet, is hosting a unique Wii event featuring the following three games:

GoldenEye 007
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

If you have any or all of the three titles listed above you are welcome to become a Gunslinger and take part in the event! It takes place Friday, August 31st at 9pm Eastern Time.

Gunslingers can mean many things. For example, you can spell out "Gunslingers" through binary code. What does it look like? Well, when you break down the word in zeros and ones, it looks like the following:

The Gunslingers clan is about having a good time. Let other groups worry about social hierarchies based on kill/death ratios. The fundamental benefit of gaming with a group of fellow adults who treat each other with respect, don't take the game too seriously, and are willing to share in the good cheer is that we are all about our members.

Case in point. Member Spotlights. Every month, we randomly select an active Gunslinger to interview and get to know in ways that may not normally be brought up while raiding the public matches. September's edition of said feature is none other than our long time member and good friend, bigfreddy!

When recruiting, I usually speak of all the ways that the Gunslingers clan is the perfect fit all the mature, casual gamers out there. Let's deviate from the norm this time around and take a look at some of the interesting facts about us GS*Goppfather has observed during his two year stay with us.

The following portion is from his "Gopp's 2-Year Anniversary" thread:

*In the 3 games that I have played the most since joining GS......there have been 4805 “Good Game” posts in the threads for those respective games. 4805!!! That’s 396 pages of “good game” posts!

* I have had AT LEAST 300 different PSN friends on my friends list at one time or another; all GS members.

* “The Lounge” thread alone has had over 7000 posts since I became a member.

* If my count is right, GS has featured 27 games in the time I have been here.

* There has been at least ONE GS romance that I’m aware of! (that does NOT include the numerous bro-mances that go on around here).

* At least 400 Spam-bots have been destroyed by Murph and the GS staff.

* When I became a member I knew exactly ZERO people who live in foreign countries. I would now consider AT LEAST 15 GS members from different countries to be dear friends.

* There have been approximately 1000 signature banners made by GS members for either themselves or other members.

* Personally, I have played 14 different game titles with GS members and have logged over 1000 hours of total game time with fellow ‘Slingers. (wow, way too much!)

* I’ve gamed with members from 27 US states that I'm aware of (California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, Kansas, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and Kentucky).

Fellow older gamers from around the world, you are invited to make your online gaming experiences this fulfilling. Life is too short not to be having a good time, on your own schedule. Join us.

We have a special edition of New Member Round-Up this time around. Already, the Fall season of gaming has proven that more and more adults are grabbing controllers and seeking out a gaming experience exclusively with a like-minded older crowd. We have showed our appreciation towards folks joining the Gunslingers with "New Member Round-Up" announcements for some time now, and I am proud to announce that we have collectively set a new GS record last week!

In just seven days (September 16th, Sunday to September 22nd, Saturday), 113 gamers joined the overall Gunslingers clan!

Being part of a gaming group is more than simply playing a specific game together. That randomly happens anyway, right? It is what type of folks you surround yourself with that matters. The Gunslingers is exclusively for mature, casual adults to enjoy gaming with each other outside of their busy schedules.

Below, I have highlighted three of our most recent community-minded updates that showcase the type of laidback crowd you will be hanging out with at the Gunslingers.

1.) Frosty Pints. Every weekend, we celebrate the end of another tiring work week by grabbing some brews and gaming. Heck, the newest installment in our GS Arcade is called "Beer Dude." Help the Commodore 64 style hero collect all the frosty pints while you wait for the weekend to start!

2.) Diverse members. One of the great things about being part of a large clan exclusively for like-minded adults is that we all have different hobbies, work experience, and talents. Take our long time member, GS*Captain Scarlet, for example. He has just published his first novel entitled The 5th Amulet. We are so stoked to support his professional level of creativity that we have dedicated a GS site page to the novel.

3.) Hilarious Good Times. Sometimes, the laughs shared while playing bleed into the GS communication tools such as our text chat and forum pages. Case in point: we have been poking fun at GS*Goppfather for referring to ANYTHING science fiction or fantasy in theme as "wizards." That is why we, for the entire month of October, are holding the Goppfather Loves Wizards Banner Contest. He has to display the winning banner in his forum signature for thirty days. LOL

So, join the adult and parent clan that is actually about having good times, good laughs, and good games. Gaming is what you make it. Why not keep it fun and on your own schedule?

Halloween is such a fun time of the year. No demands of driving across the country to have dinner with relatives with whom you barely get along. No double checking the checkbook to see if you give the obligatory presents. No, Halloween is all about dressing up and partying.

Every year, the Gunslingers give a nod to the macabre holiday but adding tweaks to our clan. You will see Halloween-themed images throughout our site's pages, a whole gallery of Halloween-themed avatars new and established members can choose from, a series of Halloween smileys members can use while posting in our forums, and even a Gunslinger Theater that features full streaming versions of public domain classics like George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead, Francis Ford Coppola's Dementia 13, and many others! You can even enjoy GS chat while you watch! We are installing a new Halloween game in our custom GS Arcade every week of October. "Monster Time" and "Graveyard Panic" have been added so far this month.

So, why are doing all of the above? Isn't it all about the game? True, the Gunslingers are around to enjoy the gaming experience exclusively with fellow older gamers, but we believe the clan experience should be focused on the fun and social aspects of gaming. And we carry that to all our communication tools after logging out of the game.

The Gunslingers is an oasis for parent and hard working adult gamers from around the world that was formed back in June, 2007. The underlining goal of our group is to create a gaming environment that is fun yet civil and friendly for mature, casual gamers. It is a goal far too uncommon in the gaming community, and is not often honestly sought. For anyone wishing to escape the lulls of silly clan probation periods, distinct divides in community ranks, unrealistic demands of attendance, and continual ugliness of clan wars, the Gunslingers is your haven. We have attracted thousands of like-minded adults, so you are not alone in your wants.

The fruit of the Gunslingers is being continuously surrounded by folks sharing your general gaming wants and perspectives. There is plenty of obligations and negativity wishing to take up your time in your career, in your personal life, and certainly during your online travels. It doesn't need to be that way. The Gunslingers clan, however existential as it may seem, seek to inject some positivity and even escapism in your daily obligations. Come. Kick your feet up. Decompress. Be merry!
