Top 15 Wii Games Under $20

Among the clutter of shovelware, there are certain gems lingering around the $20 price tag. Not only are these games cheap, but are great in many other aspects. The games listed in this article is based on my preferences and the enjoyment and fun I’ve had with each title. With the economy in a desperate struggle and families having a hard time keeping up with living conditions, cheap video games is always a nice way to alleviate the problem. The 15 games listed below are games that are not only cheap, but are fun to play.

Prices that are listed below are the normal used prices at local and online retailers. Let’s get started!

    1. Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition $15

For those who were a fan of the Gamecube version or have yet to try one of most amazing games of the last generation, it’s your chance to play it. With improved controls and 16:9 support, the game is worth every penny.

    2. Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure $14

Zack and Wiki is a highly underrated point and click adventure. Released only months after the release of the Wii, it has gotten little to no press. For those who missed out on this gem and is looking for a game with challenging puzzles, this is a must buy.

    3. No More Heroes $15

No surprise here. No More Heroes is one of most violent and entertaining games on the Wii. Heralded for it’s unique art style, retro feel, and quirky gameplay elements, it’s a title worth picking up.

    4. Okami $15

Okami is a port of the PS2 version, which received many game of the year awards. The visuals are outstanding and sport an art style vastly different from many games on the market. Many of fans of the game have compared it to Zelda. Having great reviews across the board, fans of adventure game cannot miss this one.

    5. Madworld $17

Surprised to this game as low as it is right now? Madworld, having much hype running behind it, has lived up to expectations. The game brings in a black and white world, with vibrant red blood to please hardcore gamers. Although the game is relatively short in length, the joy and entertainment for the price is worth it.

    6. Metroid Prime 3 $13

For Nintendo fans, this is a given. The Metroid Prime series is one of the most popular to date. Staying true to its colors, it doesn’t change much to its current formula. For those looking for an epic puzzle/adventure/FPS all in one package, this is the game for you.

    7. de Blob $13

de Blob is a very simple game, but executes it to perfection. You are a blob, and is sent out to paint a dull, grayed out city by the name of Chroma City. You will be able to control de Blob with your Wii mote, whether it be for bouncing, running, or flipping. For anyone looking for a quirky adventure, Katamari type game, this one is for you.

    8. Blast Works: Build, Trade, Destroy $7

Blast Works completely flew over everyone’s head. This game allows the player to create machines to fly across 2-D environments. Not only that, but the player will also be able to create landscapes, enemies, and objects. In short, the game allows you to create levels. You will be able to download other levels over WiiConnect24.

    9. Trauma Center: Second Opinion $12

Trauma Center: Second Opinion borrows the story and gameplay from the DS version of Under the Knife. This game is of its own kind. Who would of known performing surgery would be so much fun? Sure, the gameplay elements do not directly portray a real life operation, but it will keep you on your feet and make you sweat as you race against time.

    10. Battalion Wars 2 $15

The first Battalion Wars on the Gamecube was a spin-off of Advance Wars on the GBA and DS. Battalion Wars introduced real-time strategy and having the player be able to control a character on the battlefield. With a whole new arsenal added to the fray, the second installment was equally successful to its predecessor.

    11. Bully: Scholarship Edition $15

Many gamers refer this title to “GTA at school”. In essence, it really is. You are put in the shoes of a protagonist, and you are able to explore the open world of Bullworth Academy. Ever wanted to skip class? Ever had the need to beat some jocks up? Or are you in the mood to stir up some pranks? It’s all up to you.

    12. Geometry Wars: Galaxies $10

One of the best twin stick shooters to ever grace the land is here. Controlling your geometric object with your nunchunk, you avoid hundreds upon thousands of other shapes in a small region. With multiple levels and modes, the re-playability of Geometry Wars is endless. Just be ready for some major eyegasm.

    13. Rayman Raving Rabbids $12

Rayman, a popular series on the PS1, comes back in the form of…Rabbids? Yes. If you’re looking for a party game that will bring many laughs to the family room, pick this one up. Whether you feel like whacking Rabbids or denying them access to bathrooms, it’s up to you.

    14. Excite Truck $11

Released in 2006, the game still holds up very well today. Excite Truck was the very first Wii racing game to get the controls down. Bringing in a very arcadish feel to the arena, it sports a very similar feel to the NES game, Excite Bike. For those looking for a good racing title, which brings in crazy tricks and jumps, this one is a must buy.

    15. Elebits $6

Elebits was one of the first games to ever come out on the Wii. The game’s main goal is quite simple, as all you have to do is collect elebits. To collect them, you must use a beam to attach to different household items, such as microwaves, chairs, or any other movable objects. For the budget price, it’s hard to shy away from this one.
