Well nintendo is carrying on its legacy of next gen consoles to not hvings movie player devices. arent they

The reason for that is that we feel that enough people already have devices that are capable of playing DVDs and Blu-ray, such that it didn't warrant the cost involved to build that functionality into the Wii U console because of the patents related to those technologies.

Not that it matters anyway, DVD playing is for my laptop or PlayStation 2.

do you really need dvd in a game console? it'd just wear out much faster, then you're out a couple hundred. while a basic dvd player cost about $20 now w/ bluray soon following.

Word. Not to mention DVD players are usually more practical in general. I'll take a remote over my controllers any day, lol.

There have already been 3D videos and movie trailers on the 3DS. It doesn't require any hacking. The video just needs to be in the correct format.
