99% of internet forums are free because they get money through advertising and not membership fees. I haven't yet seen a pay to type forum out there besides MMORPG sponsored ones where you pay for forum access with your monthly gaming fees.

Well...you CAN pay for the PC, I think. But you don't HAVE to. I think you get extra features if you subscribe, like voice chat.
