Following on from the announcement of the exclusive deal with Sega to release the next three Sonic games only on Nintendo consoles, Nintendo has just announced the second of those games, Sonic Lost World, which will be available exclusively on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS later this year. The action-adventure platforming game sees the return of Dr. Eggman, who has harnessed the power of six menacing creatures known as the Deadly Six. The plot sees the tables turned when the Deadly Six turn on their creator, and Sonic has to team up with his arch enemy in order to defeat the Six. Sonic will have some incredible new moves for the new game, including parkour moves and improved Colour Powers, as he runs, jumps and races through the ever-changing terrain, as he attempts to complete his quest. The Wii U game will feature single-player and various multiplayer modes, along with Wii U exclusive features, such as exclusive Wii U Colour Powers, which can be controlled via the Wii U GamePad by tilting, touching, aiming, and more. You can also play the entire game on the Wii U GamePad touchscreen. Can't wait to see Sonic's parkour moves!

In the trailer, the Green Lantern, aka Hal Jordan, is heard to say: “My oath says that no evil shall escape my sight. So what happens when that evil is me?” The trailer also features previously unseen story elements, and a snippet of some of the cutscenes featuring The Green Lantern. According to a new report on Polygon, the Wii U Miiverse social network will be coming to your PC web browser or smartphone in May, and later on to Nintendo’s 3DS handheld. The news came from Nintendo’s Miiverse producer, Kiyoshi Mizuki, during a talk that he gave at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) this past week in San Francisco. In his speech, Mizuki said that the Miiverse mobile and web browser app should be released by May. He also said that it will initially only incorporate basic Miiverse features, such as the ability to post comments, draw doodles, and engage with the Miiverse communities, but presumably more will be added to this following the app’s release. This announcement confirms what Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said back in January, when he first announced that Nintendo was planning a Miiverse smartphone app, which he said would initially be browser-based, but would eventually be app-based.
Today’s gaming news from Capcom is such a big deal that it was actually trending worldwide this afternoon, or rather the title of one of the games that Capcom announced was trending, namely, DuckTales Remastered. Also announced was Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystaria, with all of the announced games coming this summer to all major consoles, including Wii U. According to Capcom, which released the exciting news at the end of its panel at the PAX East convention in Boston, DuckTales Remastered sees the WayForward development team take the levels and layout from the original 1989 release as the basis of the revamped game, before expanding on them, with the 8-bit visuals of the original game being beautifully recreated as hand-drawn and animated sprites, across luscious, re-envisioned environments. The game will also feature original Disney Character Voices talent, including some from the cartoon TV series, and the classic melodies from the original game, but also enhanced with a new twist. Also added to the revamped version of the classic game are an all-new tutorial level, and Scrooge McDuck’s Museum, where players can track their stats and compare their progress via global leaderboards. Expect to see DuckTales Remastered released digitally this summer.
Turning to Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystaria, this is actually the name for a double pack that features both D&D: Tower of Doom, and D&D: Shadow over Mystara. These two classic Capcom arcade games have been revamped with updated HD graphics and will be released digitally in June. Just as in the arcade games, up to four players get to choose a character class before doing battle against mythical creatures from Wizards of the Coast’s D&D universe, using melee, range, and magic attacks. In addition to the classic arcade mode, players will also be able to use the all-new House Rules feature to customise their gameplay. Other new features include a character visualise, where you can track... [Read More]
Wii U-owning fans of the smash-hit, Emmy Award-winning TV series, The Walking Dead, will be wanting to shuffle down to their local games emporium today, as Activision’s Wii U game based on the hit show has just been released. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct features the crossbow-wielding Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus, and his brother Merle, played by Michael Rooker, on an unforgiving adventure through the walker-infested Georgia countryside. With both actors reprising their TV roles in the game, developer Terminal Reality shows its commitment to delivering a gaming experience that stays true to the characters, tone, and storyline of the TV show. The gameplay is very much first-person survival of the fittest, as players scrounge for food, water and ammunition in order to survive against both living and dead nightmares. The story takes place before the events of the TV show, as the brothers try to reach the supposedly safe city of Atlanta, amidst apocalyptic chaos. Once again, great to see that the Wii U gets a version of this game, along with the PS3 and Xbox games.
