Default Nintendo bans Manhunt 2 for Wii

The whole Manhunt debarcle still rumbles on for a third day as it has been announced that Nintendo and Sony are both refusing to allow Manhunt 2 to be released for there consoles.

The decision follows the ESRB ruling that Manhunt 2 would receive a AO (Adult Only) rating in America which already meant that the title would be stocked in limited locations.

However Nintendo and Sony have corporate policies in place which restrict AO titles appearing on consoles and therefore a release in the US is now unlikely altogether.

The game is now banned from the USA, UK and Ireland and no doubt the rest of Europe will follow suit in due course before the due release on July 10th. It leaves no option but for the game to be scrapped or re-worked. We'll keep you informed of any decisions!

Have Nintendo and Sony actually announced they will not allow manhunt on their console? Is there a link?
Or is this speculation due to the AO clause in Sony/Nintendo's corporate policy?

Probably speculation due to that said clause, which I doubt exceptions would be made...

I thought Nintendo said if the FINAL rating was A0 they wouldn't let it out on Wii. Rockstar still has time to make changes necessary to drop it down to a M rating.

And I'm sure Rockstar is heavily considering doing just that, because I mean it would be the smart thing to do given the fact this is such a high profile game and while not the most anticipated game of the year, there are still alot of people waiting to play. Alot of people equals alot of money so Rockstar will more than likely do whatever it takes to get it to the largest audience possible.

WOW! I'm kinda pissed about this if it ends up being true. I love my Wii, but they need to start making games that target an older audience. There is only so much you can play all these little "kiddy" games. I would love to see this game come out so that future titles with same type content could be released on this console and same goes for the PS3. (Though the PS3 already targets older audiences)

Hint - the best advertising is free advertising.

I think some of you are falling for it hook line and sinker.

...you do know the rating AO is basicly a death trap don't you? Most stores don't even stock games of that rating. Weither Nintendo and Sony aloud it or not, they probably wouldnt get the sales they want. Most games rated AO are basicly porn games. They should try and make it M if this is the case.

well said, places like Best buy, Walmart,,Circuit city etc 1 wont sell em cuz they dont want to take the chance of someone whose underage buying the game cuz if someone from esrb finds out its a good $100k fine, and 2 cuz they dont want their image as a retailer to be looked down on for "questionable" games.

ima be honest, games like this dont need to be made. violoence is one thing, but this game is demented. i bet my year salery that 1 idiot who sits around and plays game, has no life etc, will get this game and mimic actions from man hunt and testiy the game influneced him. this kinda stuff dosent need to be seen, let alone played, it just currupts ppls minds. and i know that dosent apply for everyone, but like i said they're ppl who take this stuff to serious and try to play it out. happened with D&D, GTA, Mortal Kombat (i forget the excat story on this though).

when was the last AO game created? Wasn't it night-trap for the 3d0 because of a rape game way back in the 90's? come on.

Well how incredibly hardcore is this game for it to be banned in multiple countries (or have the possibility to be)?
