I would say zen, I tend to shy away from popular things that aren't nessesarily good because of it (I-pod, PS3, PSP, Guitar Hero (willing to try though))

If you stay away from Apple, You'll be fine. Apple are always screwing up, (Not that microsoft Don't) If youre new to mp3 and such, i wouldnt suggest a zune...Not quite yet, personally, im getting one, but ive had quite a few in my time. Anyways, like i said, if youre new , i wouldnt suggest a zune OR an ipod. Just go for a player with a few gigs, theres some nice Sony Walkmans over here in England, i'd assume theyre over in America too,(If thats where you live? sorry, i didnt check :P).

I'm an Apple fan yes, "fanboy"? I think not. I know alot about both systems and I can tell you this, Apple does not put out a bad product.

As far as winning the 'war' I could give a crap. I've had 6 PC's built over the last 3.5 years all with their fair share of problems. Although i've only had 1 Apple Powerbook, for the last 3.5 years. Not 1 problem at all, never.

Apple products are solid, reliable and just plain work the way they should. Same goes for the iPod (which btw is why it's the best selling MP3 player in the world)

Anyone who says anything different about Apple as a company and their product reliability has absolutely no idea what they're talking about.
