Seeing as how the Christianity thread took off, I have to ask why people have such stereotyped views of hypocritical Christians. As I have grown up in the Christian faith and school, I do not understand the mindset of other people.

Do you know why stereotypes exist? Because there is some truth to them. So many Christians that I have met DO fit my description in that thread. I'm not talking about 20-30; I'm talking about 150... That's A LOT of Christians. Most of the Christians that fit this stereotype are either non-denominational or Protestant.
You don't have to look down on someone FOR being Christian. When someone says they're Christian, I don't go OH WELL YOU MUST BE BAD. There's a difference between saying, "Oh, you're Christian, you must be like this" and "Christians are generally like this."
I've got nothing against Christians (or any other religions) and I don't think they can be stereotyped. Humans have so many different characteristics, it makes it impossible to just pigeonhole them into certain groups. The thing is, some religious people are more liberal, while others are more conservative. It's the "conservative" bit that I'm usually arguing against, not the religion. My liberal (note: not socialist) views are typically in conflict with conservative views, regardless of religion.
