So...most of us have heard about the people on MySpace who "slut" themselves out. Yes, both boys and girls do this. The girls post pictures of themselves with huge amounts of cleavage, almost completely topeless, wearing panties and bending over and the guys showing off their muscles, wearing only boxers/speedos/tighty whiteys etc... Then, these same boys and girls post replies to their friend's pictures about how "HAWTTT" they are and to "HOLLA ATCHYA BOI" and also that they want to "**** THEM" and a lot of really obscene stuff. These are just everyday people mostly with a secret world of MySpace.

My question to you all is why do you guys think these people do this to themselves?

Do you think they are starved for attention and this is their way of getting noticed?

Do you think they already have attention but crave for more?

Do you think they're simply showing the world their goods and are justified in doing so?

Do you think they're lost and confused and looking for friends? Wanting to stand out from the crowd, but really in fact, blending in?




My personal opinion is this....


I believe these girls are looking for the wrong kind of attention and they owe themselves more than to show their bodies to every joe shmoe that comes along. I think the guys are lonely and perhaps looking for love and that is their way of doing it. I know most of these people would be terribly ashamed if their grandparents were to know what they were doing. I feel sorry for them that they can't see that they're worth so much more than tight clothing and showy pictures.

I wish they would show themselves more respect and realize they're worth soooo much more and that their bodies are sacred and beautiful and shouldn't be publicly shown off to strangers like some sort of circus clown. These girls don't need to go to the tanning salon everyday, to get their hair and nails done, wear 10 layers of make-up and put tube tops on to be beautiful. Same goes for the guys, they don't need to work out everyday all day, drive a nice car or put pounds of gel in their hair to get a girl to notice them.

My opinion: if they are looking for someone real and true, someone who likes more than plastic, then they're looking in the wrong place and should make their myspaces full of what makes them truly special. Cause let's face it, as kids, they would be disgusted in themselves and probably call their future selves poopy heads.


I wanted to make this thread as short and sweet as possible. What ever happened to people respecting their bodies and souls? and complimenting someone in a lady-like, gentlemanly way when you find someone else attractive? What happened to "You have a beautiful smile" instead of "GREAT AZZ!!!!OMFG!@!#Q@#" What happened to courtship and respect?


If these people remain on this same track...How do you imagine their marriage/family will be in the future? How do you think these people will end up?

A guy from my year used to be a spotty fat geek when he started school. Then he started to thin out a bit.. spots started to go.. and then he got myspace and then his ego went from 1 to 1,000,000 in like a week. He sounds so big headed on there and the pictures look nothing like he does really. It's pathetic.

I hear ya! I have this friend, well, not really a friend anymore - more like aquaintances. She posts pictures of herself on MySpace at those stupid weird angles to make it look like she's not overweight - but she is. I feel so bad for her and I realize it must be hard for her but the real answer is just to get in good health and not be afraid to hide yourself from the rest of the world. She is so pretty, fat or not and I just wish I had a way of telling her that she doesn't need to pretend to be something she's not.

I used to be 16 and have low self esteem. I would never post pictures of myself naked or anything, but I'd take pictures with extreme angles. I did it because I was an "outcast" in high school and wanted to feel accepted. As you all know, once you're an outcast in high school, no matter how pretty you later become or are, you're stuck there. No one ever sees you as anything else until you move to a different school or graduate or whatever.

I grew out of it within a year. Some people NEVER grow out of that shit, and it's so ****ing sad.

As for girls completely slutting themselves out, well I don't know the exact reason as to why someone because a total skank, but I can tell you that they post half-naked pics of themselves because they are skanks. The girls that I know who do this are total sluts and are "popular" in real life.

Everyone has their own reason for posting inaccurate/slutty pics of themselves. Some post them because they were pushed into a position where they lost all of their self-worth and therefore seek acceptance on the internet. Others do it because they're like that in real life... and they're like that in real life to be popular, to be accepted, because of the media etc... and their parents are ****ing retarded and let them do whatever the **** they want. I think everyone does it for attention, though.

But yeah i couldn't agree with you more. Mommy and Daddy don't give their little girls enough attention or they have very low self esteem so they start posting all sorts of skanky pictures so they can get comments from old creepy dudes.

I think its sad, i have few people on my friends list that are like that, im always half tempted to send them a message telling them to get over themselves. But i never do.

The more i go on myspce the more i hate it. My girlfriend is into doing these bulliten quizes...meh! What a waste of time, as if any one cares what color pajamas your wearing or what the last sms said on your phone!

For those of us who are a little older maybe (I'm a 35yr old man) and look on this from an outside view i.e. I'm not still at home / school / college / university... I firstly want to applaud Marisa for starting this thread, it's good to see all aspects of life open to discussion on a video game forum. Spot on.

My take on this has been unchanged from when I was at school to now and it centers around the media - we have always had idealistic models, actors, tv presenters, pop stars, media personalities which have been hand picked to represent the more generally aesthetic appealing attributes of the human form - there is a reason why they call them models and this is where the problem starts - because "sex sells" and sells big, media corps want to push it down the throats of all who are not so "beautiful" into thinking that we all can become famous, rich, popular etc... if only we had: long legs, full lips, a six pack, big tits, flat stomach, blonde hair, blue eyes: hell even Hitler realised this....let's not get into that tho.

People of all ages are suckered into thinking that they can become popular if they buy this and buy that product which will transform us overnight - and it gets them hooked into the media centric trap of wanting to be like....Clooney, Pitt, Aniston etc etc and plays on this.
Now taking that notion and looking on MySpace at all these wannabees clamouring for attention: because that's all they really want isn't it: you realise that the people they are trying to impress are not looking for them per se but an image - it's everymans' reality tv. They will have their "woo you go girl / boy you look hot..." blah, then realise that it's not really that exciting when people stop looking at your site because there really isn't any content to go with the cleavage and six-packs and they will wander off and blend into the scenery once they leave their little pack of admirers and join bigger pools like uni and work etc... Their star will fade, which is nothing out of the ordinary - the main fear for the ones that are really obsessed will be that cosmetic surgery route and we all know where that will end... check out the mass of overdone "celebrity" surgeries

The realistic outcome of how the majority of these vane people will end up is just like all the rest of us, regardless of height, weight, looks etc. etc.. it's one of house, car, 2.4kids(maybe) and a work-a-day job, if being beautiful ever brought true lasting happiness take a look back into history and see how many falls from grace there have been once the tits sag or the hairline receeds.....

It'sthe content that we really want to buy, the packaging just draws our attention to it - imagine getting up on xmas morning to a present wrapped in glamourous paper and when you opened it all that was inside was a leadless pencil....

Wow! That was beautifully writen! I especially love the Christmas gift example, fits perfectly! There's nothing more I can add because you've pretty much said it all. Basically, all I can say is that I pray one day these people wake up and realize that there is more to life than outside appearance and that all those chemicals they add to their bodies will - in the end - make them uglier.

me personally i cant stand the a-typical im thin and pretty and half naked girls on myspace with 10000 friends who TyPe LyKe DiSsS and want nothing but guys to drool over them. it makes me naucious and if i have a kid that does it i swear to god i will lock them in the basement forever!!!! its stupid, its idiotic and a waste of time. in the time it takes these girls to post a pic where the caption says "DoNTchA TiNk I LoOoOoK PhAt?" and they could use another 10000LBS put on them and get the guys that say "yo shawty you look MAD HOT!" they could of been doing their homework!!!!!!!! it boggles my mind

my page is private. those that know me or i extend an invitation to may see my page. i have 2 "provocative" pics on there one in my NYPD uniform and another lifting my shirt. reason they are up there is because i KNOW the crowed that is viewing them. i know these people personally and i am not asshamed. however if it were openly put out in public someones head would deff be rolling!
