Not as much as I'd have liked to. Weather hasn't been nice enough recently but I'm doing a wedding next week (SO nervous).
Actually, just as I was typing that first sentance my sister phoned and said she has another job for me, I've been asked to do a christening in November!
The idea is to do Microsoft Paint Album Covers/Game Covers.
You attempt to draw the cover in Paint, and post it for people to guess which one it is. You obviously don't put the name of the album/game on there....example...
It is a potentially stellar thread, but like i said....Board Games....and nobody goes there.

- Nice!! I have been asked to do some weddings, but don't feel comfortable enough yet. I have done some stuff as like a secondary photographer, and it was fun. I think I need to get some better gear. Are you going to be using any flash? That is the other thing, I am kinda just getting used to flash photography.
- I want to go to the beach now. It is overcast in town, but my bet is it is perfectly clear at the beach, and nobody is there. I want a sidekick.

Luckily, it's not going to be a high priced fancy traditional wedding. The bride and groom are in their late 40's and I think they've both been married before, so it's in a registry office. Also, for the reception their just having a buffet in their house! So I think it will be a great first wedding for me as I will be nervous, but I wont have to worry about getting the 'must have' shots a usual wedding has, because this is different.
As for flash I haven't got any flash guns YET, but I've checked some out in the camera shop in the city and hopefully I can buy one this week. My mother and I agreed that until I get a job she'll give me money I need by doing the usual stuff around the house and that. We'll I've done so much lately for her that I'm pretty sure she'll buy me a flash gun and tripod I saw in the shop. I need it soon so I can practice with it a bit, I don't want to buy it like the day before or anything. Actually, I think I'll go talk to her about it now.
The only thing I'm finding difficult is sorting out the price. It depends on how much all the prints are going to cost at the end of the day. And as of yet I don't know how many she'll choose, and then of course I have to make profit from that.
Yeah....the price. That is always a tough issue. Let me tell you my thoughts. You really have to take into account the time you spend in post processing. I mean. You could spend forever just getting the pictures onto the computer and sorting through them. Then you have to deal with editing them. Depending on how many shots you take, it is a huge job.
Then there is the fact that this is your first job. That is a double edged sword. You want to keep the price reasonable and at level with your skill. BUT, the thing is, the last thing you want is to become as that person who does weddings for reeeealy cheap. I like the idea of quoting them a higher price (maybe the price you would want for any other wedding), then telling them that you are going to give them a discount.
And as for the actual photo part of it....not necessarily advice, but just things I forget to think about, and some ideas...
- if you don't already...shoot in RAW.
- consistently check your ISO. (Don't know if this is a problem for anyone else, but I constantly forget.....why are my shutter speeds so whacky?!?)
-Batteries....nothing worse than getting there and not having a charged battery. Extras aren't bad.
- And obviously have fun and be confident. If you are timid about your photos, it will come across in the end.
- "We will pay the price, But we will not count the cost"
- Good song
- I've got people to talk to!!!
- Stupid friend canceled
- I was really looking forward to it too.
