I put it down to more of a "friendly rivalry" than actual hatred. A lot of Britons say they hate the French, but that doesn't stop them going on booze cruises to Calais and buying second homes in Provence. You'd have to really pathetic indeed to hold an actual grudge against another country for something which has long since passed.

You know what, I really don't need you telling me what I should or shouldn't think.
Everybody is entitled to an opinion, and you're not going to change mine.
You know, I don't neccessarily hate the people - it's just a case of complaining about France. Practically everyone here do it, it's not something new and unacceptable.

I complain about France - so sue me.
