Do you think any movie director will ever live up to and/or surpass the names Steven Spielberg or George Lucas? Who would you consider this generation's Spielberg or Lucas?

Personally, I don't see anyone being able to come close to these 2 giants. No one will ever create another Star Wars or Indiana Jones. They were perfect ideas presented the perfect way.

The closest would have to be Peter Jackson.

Peter Jackson also was the director of Lord of the Rings.

I don't think there will ever be a another fresh, new trilogy like Star Wars or Indy Jones, though.

LotR is one of my favorite movie trilogies ever, so there you go. :/ Jackson is one of my favorite directors. I could imagine he has a larger following than Michael Bay does at this point, but it just depends on the success of both of their futures, I guess.

- The ability to know how to convey a certain image by appealing to all of the senses (or as many as possible).
- Knowledge of previous master pieces and copying some of the things they did to be successful.
- Understanding how to create depth to a story and not make it seem one-dimensional.
- Having a great imagination.

And there's more, but that's all I can currently think of. Being innately talented is another factor.
