of course there's something stupid about being happy when someone is trying to upset you. Why on earth would that make you happy?
I read you wrong then, as I had meant that there is nothing stupid with people blocking out other people's intolerance by thinking happy thoughts. Not by reacting in a way such as "Wow, you think I'm a redneck homo? THANKS MAN!" and being serious about it, although I have yet to actually meet someone like that... (But again I wouldn't judge them for it)

To an extent, but for some people that's not the case.

Obviously for you, it isn't. But for some people, it works for them... Some people just have their own way of dealing with things, whether it be crying, throwing a tantrum, assaulting that person/group of people, being happy, or just quietly ignoring that other person. Whatever works for them shouldn't really concern you though, unless it's someone you care about or someone who's in danger.

this is true and is probably the foundation of what we have discussed. I merely speak of whether these ways are effective for oneself and if some self control would be better than to throw a tantrum or the like. However, like it is, everyone has their own way of dealing with things, although i can only suggest to these people that a little time out trying to see the opposing side's point of view, no matter how stupid one may think, is worth a thought.
^that, i can pretty much agree with. i know a girl who just sets herself up for ppl to do stuff like that to her, and then just bitches about how everyone hates, but yet she won't take anybody's advice and just want's ppls pity.
my point was that Z3wpk wasn't throwing a tantrum or anything like that, in fact i thought he handled it pretty calmly, so the whole people not controlling their emotions thing was kinda unnecessary.
question: does anybody find the noise of your dog licking itself extensively extremely disturbing??

-Here it's been very rainy and muggy. It's somewhat depressing. Hopefully when I leave for Florida it will be nice down there. (Btw I live in NY Tri-State Area.)

Luckily though it stayed dry when I went to town, and the really heavy downpoor we had started just after I got home. It's usually the other one round and starts when I go out then finishes when I get in!
