Well David Draiman (the lead singer) is Jewish. When he was younger he attended a Jewish boarding school (I think it was boys only.) And because of his religion he was not allowed to date. He really wasn't even allowed to talk to girls. Anyway one day he met this girl who was a heroin addict and they started dating in secret. And he also managed to break her of her addiction. But as time went on she grew more and more attached to him. Eventually she wanted to tell their parents about them. But David Didn't want to. I forget why, but one day he broke up with her. This sent her into a spiraling depression, and she started doing heroin once again. She didn't want to live without him, so she took her own life. Anyway when David heard about this he was devistated. And he said the thought of it still haunts him today. So that's what inside the fire is about. Most of the song is supposed to be the devil telling him to take his own life so he can be with her again.
