(Didn't really deem it necessary to use the term "marriage", as human beings have carelessly demolished any sacredness it had).
QFTW
Too many people abuse what it really means nowdays I think. My film teacher has very strong views on this and I love listening to what she thinks about it all. She's been with her partner for about 15 years, they have two children together and she told my class this week she's expecting another. She doesn't want to get married though as she thinks today it's just to show off to other people, like how big a wedding you can afford and stuff, she said she doesn't have to prove to other people how much they love each other. It's a really good view.
I really enjoyed reading this thread, I don't post much but I love reading a lot of the stuff in here. =
Anyone: Would you donate one of your kidneys to a total stranger?
Actually, yes.
Reason? I received a cornea transplant when I was a baby. I was born with my right eye being completely white. If they wouldn't have found a donor, I would have a glass eye. The transplant isn't functional, meaning I'm blind in that eye, but cosmetically it's pretty much perfect. So I have a special appreciation for such donations and if given the opportunity to help someone else the way I was helped, I'd do it.

...Your point is?
I was just saying I appreciate the idea of donating and transplanting, and I have benefitted from it, so if given the opportunity, I would "pay it forward".

@Celeste - Thats cool about the walmart, they don't have that here. I'd go buy all the halal food if they did.
I'm not really sure about transplants. I don't think I'd do it unless I was alive and for family.
As far as marriage goes, I understand what you're saying rach and celeste that the institution of marriage has become a joke somewhat. But I still think I'd want to be married rather than in a deep committed relationship. It's not about the wedding ceremony and showing off or anything. Just because others have ruined the term doesn't mean I won't take it seriously and that it can't work out.
Depends on the marriage situation. Happily married is best for me.
My marriage/spouse/Wifeyİ is absolutely amazing. I did the single thing until I burned out on that scene, and waited a long time (relative to other folks) until I knew I had found exactly the right person.
It's incredible to me when I'm around other men, how negative they are about having a wife, being married - it's pretty sad really. Then again, both our lives have always been about zagging when other people zigged We are definitely, always, the exception-to-the-rule. (In everything from relationships to business).
So dig this: we work together, out of the house, every day. We have very few friends outside of each other (our best friends we see about once a month - coincidently they're coming over today). We do pretty much everything together - concerts, travel, beach, surf, boat, fish, videogames, even my car events JB happily attends and has a great time.
So yeah, a HAPPY marriage is AMAZING, but otherwise no rush, because being single is far better than a mediocre marriage.

If I'm dead, then yeah they can take whatever they want
But I would only do it for a family member or friend if I'm still alive
same here. Though in Canada, you can't donate any organ except the kidney when you're alive. When I'm dead might as well let someone else have the organs.
@DT - I think I speak for Brawny too when I say I'm jealous and pray for what you have. Although I think he's in some sort of a relationship or something.
