Apparently they were pretty far into it in 2005 and Spielberg decided to scrap the whole thing, saying it didn't flow right. It was then scheduled for an '08 release, but the writer's strike has delayed it to '09. And the best part is that you probably already know all of this! I'm just rambling!

It makes sense that he had to scrap a bad script. Too much science and its dull, too much action and its just a bunch of dino's running around.

There's way too much Spiderman for 3 movies. I think I heard Toby McGuire say he had a contract through #5, actually. Wouldn't be surprised if they picked up a new actor after he retires as well.

^I thought so, too, but I read that the producer said that he loves the series and is willing to make as many movies as possible. Hopefully it doesn't get ruined [see: Batman, Superman], the fourth rendition is infamous for being the beginning of the end.

+ Since they've killed off Venom, they don't have a huge antagonist anymore. Lizard will definitely be cool, but there's got to be more than just him. A lot of people are hoping for Carnage.

Venom isn't over. Not from what I've heard (I saw what happened to him).

Also, there's a lot more villains left to go. Off the top of my head: Hob Goblin, King Pen, Tombstone, Hammer Head, Electro, Mysterio (possibilities of this are high, and I would LOVE to see him make an appearance). Many more to go.

You're correct in that a portion of the symbiote survived, however, its host did not [forget his name]. He was like incinerated or something. And if you think about it, Venom is the combination of the symbiote and that specific host. Its not like the symbiote can infect your grandma and become venom again, it would be considered a different enemy.

And you're right, I just think that those seem like side-enemies. Expect to see Sandman come back on the side of Spidey, because he wasn't killed and became friends with Spiderman at the end.

I guess that last bit is where opinion kicks in. If the symbiote found a new host, I, personally, would consider that still "Venom".
Re-appearance of Sandman is very likely. The only real "side enemies" I listed were Tombstone and Hammer Head (both still very cool, Tombstone is one of my all time favorites for some reason). King Pin is one of THE biggest villains, and Mysterio...my God. The graphics possibilities are endless (aside from money), could potentially be the best movie I ever lay my eyes on.

Jam: Morbius is extremely good, as is the hunter guy (can't remember his name). Shocker's another one...

Perhaps side-enemy was not portraying the correct picture.

Think of it this way: Green Goblin, Doc Oc, Sandman, Venom. They're all intimidating, have a consistent look of 'awesomeness', if you will. They get a good reaction on the big screen.

Don't get me wrong, I like Mysterio, but he's...a regular guy. He can change into stuff, alright, but his general image doesn't flow with the other movies' bad guys. He wouldn't get the same reaction on the big screen.
