These are awesome!
The third and fifth are my personal favourites, what did you use for the background?
Apparently, I've reached my limit for uploading files onto Flickr for this month. Which is a shame as I took some nice pictures of lillies Sunday afternoon.

I didn't use a back ground. I put them in the middle of the room on a table, and shot with the sun shining directly on them. I turned off the lights in the room, and opened the aperture wide. Unfortunately, I think you can see the walls in the first one. I think that's cause the aperture was not nearly as wide as the rest of them.
Oh yeah. I was thinking, we should number out pictures, so they are easier to discuss. I went back and edited mine to put numbers.

Just a thought.

I think those are *outstanding* ideas! It will definitely motivate me to shoot some new stuff vs. posting old/existing content.
BTW, I realize I started the thread and haven't posted anything, hahaha!!

There's always great tutorials in photography magazines. I usualy get Digital Photography Magazine, I'm not sure if you have it over there, but I'm sure there are ones like it.
Most of them now come with CDs with tutorials and add ons that will help you, and there's always loads of articles in most of the digital photography ones to help you out on photoshop.

*Half bump*
So my sister told me about this competition today. I'm hoping to go into wildlife photography, so as the theme is 'Animals in Action' I'm going for this. Anybody else ever entered competitions?
This will be my first one, although there are a couple running that I'm hoping to enter if I get the time. I just need to come up with something that will stand out. My first ideas were lions, but the rules state that they can't be animals in zoos, so that's kinda gone out the window.

Where abouts in the UK are you from? Just dug out September 2007 issue of practical photography and they did an article with some great deer shots in Richmond Park (London)

I have, but there were some pro's in there as well, didn't stand much of a chance, but it's always nice to give things like that a go.

it seems that the "flowers" theme has run dry.... perhaps a new one may bring this group back to life.

I always get put off by ones that allow professional photographers to enter too. I was reading about the winners of the young photographers awards a while back, most of their parents are professional photographers too and they get to travel around the world with them. Kinda makes it a bit unfair to other people then.
New topic sounds good, I was inspired to take a picture of a lily the other day thanks to this thread. But I've ran out of flowers now
Need some topics that will get me out there using my new lense! I still haven't had the chance to go out there and use it!

Yeah...new one...I like the idea of everyone posting a shot based a quote or phrase.
Why doesn't everyone put up one quote or phrase...then we can pick one.

I took a few pictures today, I was quite happy with this one. I also had the perfect chance to use my new lense today, but I didn't take it with me! Gah.. it was so pretty too, three baby birds walking in a line!
It's coming into summer now, and we've been getting some amazing weather down here recently, so I thought how about a weather based theme? Some pictures representing what the weather is like with you now? Or what the weather is normally like where you live?
