First it was Microsoft dropping the price of the XBox 360, then Sony introduced the PS3 Slim with a much lower price, it only seems logical that Nintendo would follow with reducing the price on the Wii. “Advance retail listings forwarded to Kotaku indicate that Nintendo is planning to issue its first price drop on the Wii in North America, with a less expensive version of the console—currently priced at $US249—coming the first week of October”
The Wii has remained the same price since the introduction back in November of 2006. Last month at an Investor’s meeting Nintendo said they were not planning any price drops but this was before the competition slashed prices. Wii sales have been on the decline for almost the entire year and I believe Nintendo doesn’t want to miss out on the upcoming holiday shopping season.
