My current DS has touch screen issues and the L button is broken. The touch screen's problem is that when I touch a certain part of the screen, it responds in another area or doesn't respond at all. I cannot play Elite Beat Agents with a touch screen like this. So before I actually get the new DS I have a few questions:

1. I heard that you can trade in your old DS for a new one for only $79.99. Is that true and if so does it work for messed up DSes too?

2. This touch screen problem happened to me twice, once with my old DS (the first version) and my current DS Lite. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening again, like a screen protector or something. Am I just being too rough on the screen? I feel like I've been touching the screen gently but it still ends up getting messed up.

3. How much does a warranty cost, because if I buy a new DS and this problem happens AGAIN, I'll need to get it fixed.

4. Has this touch screen problem happened to anyone else besides me?

1. i do remember something to that sound at ebgames when the ds lite was first released. i dont know if that deal is still around but i do know eb will not give you full trade in value on a broken system.

2. i've never had such a problem. screen protectors usually just protect against scratches and i doubt they'll work against this sort of thing. did you try recalibrating the touch screen?

3. the 3 year warranty i bought from best buy cost me $50.

If it happened on 2 of your ds, your probably breaking them... I'd be alot gentler with them. You must be doing something pretty harsh because Nintendo's portables are extremely durable.

I don't get it. I really don't think I'm doing anything too badly. I try to be as gentle as possible, so gentle that sometimes the game doesn't respond because I'm tapping the screen to softly.

Sorry, until I actually hear this straight from Nintendo, I'm not believeing anything.

There is a new DS in production, but it's nothing special. Don't worry about it.

that new ds talk is all speculation. and it might not be from you touching the screen. you obviously dont take good care of your things.

Go to nintendo customer support online and try to get some help, if they dont have an answer there then usually you can call them (they give you a number for help) and you can call them there for even more help.
