Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube vs. PS2)
I've read GREAT reviews for Resident Evil 4 but I don't know which version to get. I have a PS2 so I wanted to know whether to get the PS2 version or the Gamecube version to play on my Wii. Anyone have first hand experience with either version or know the difference between the two?

lemme go through the basics
RE4 on PS2 = few extra contents, way worse graphics
RE4 on GCN = great graphics and its original console
i would say GCN version, graphics really add to it and it feels better on the GCN for me, the content added on the ps2 version isnt that great, its like 1 extra costume thats all i know, + i think gcn version is cheaper since its 20 bucks, not sure how much the ps2 version is though

I just got it to play for my wii, the game just rockz. And considering GCs were always better than the PS2's in ported games, yeah go get GC Resi 4.
Includes better packaging for sure too :P

I think you made the right choice. RE4 for the Cube is the console at its very best.

well obviously from the past answers, typical since u asked this on a nintendo forum, i played both, ps2 has better controls, visualls are pretty much the same,i really cant tell any difference what so ever, i own the gamecube version, but only rented the ps2 version to see whats the difference, same game pretty much, but the ps2 version has a little side level as u play Ada, but yeh, ps2 version >>> Gamecube Version, Sadly, but play both and u will agree with me, ps2 version is the go,well it did have more development time.More extras,a new weapon?,costumes, just overall better.

Coming from the #1 Resident Evil fan, I'd say go for the Gamecube version for a few reasons.
1. The graphics are 20x better
2. All the Resident Evil titles from 0 to CVX are on the Gamecube so you can start a collection
3. The only thing better on the PS2 is that there is another gun, which you don't get until the end of the game anyway
4. Resident Evil 4 was made for the Gamecube, and the PS2 port was just an excuse to make money with Sony Resident Evil fans.

20x better?, have u actually played both?
but yeh, it would be a better idea to get the GCN version as you can play on your wii, more convinient.

I think that GC's controller is much better for resi, since I always had probem playing with the playstation ones no matter what the game was.

in the short time period i had the ps2 version, the contols seemed more suited due to the layout of the ps2 control pad, altho it took some time to get used to it as i been playing the gamecube version for so long

yeah ur right... but from my general experience on both systems( even though I dont own a PS2, I know a lot of people who do), GC always had better controls and graphics. ofc ur more of an expert at this

I haven't played both because like the other guy said, I too hate Resident Evil controls on the Playstation gamepad. Even so, I've seen video and screenshots which I think is 95% of the time enough to judge a game by, depending where you get your sources from.

I have played both and opted to play the GC version over the PS2 version.
The GC version DOES indeed have better visuals I've seen them first hand but whats really important is the controls. I found the PS2 controls rather flaky and deemed the GC controls for the game to be far superior. I played the first 3 hours on my PS2 and dropped it bought the GC version and completed it ---twice---

The graphics will be slightly sharper on your wii than on the gamecube, so it'll look double as good than the ps2 version
