Last generation i got a xbox so i know very little about the gamecube. Now id like to take advantage of the backwards compatability of the wii, so what gamecube games would you guys suggest. I personally prefer sports games and racing games, any thoughts? thanks in advance

If you like Mario try Sunshine, its really nice.

I would personally recommend a few:
- Mario Sunshine
- Mario Kart: Double Dash
- Resident Evil 4
- Super Smash Bros: Melee
- Metroid Prime 1 and 2

And loads of others are available to be picked up very cheaply.

I was just wondering, Is Mario Superstar Baseball good? and If I had to pick between that or Super Mario Strikers, which is better?

If you like rpg's I would suggest picking up either Skies of Arcadia or Tales of Symphonia. Both of those games are really good.

If you liked the old Sonic the Hedgehog, try Sonic Mega Collection. It has some really nice old school Sonic games on it.

Resident Evil 4 might not be a good game to get, considering the wii version comes out soon I think.

Mario Superstar Baseball is a little better than Super Mario Strikers, but I suggest Strikers since it is full of action.

They aren't relevant to your particular sports/racing interests, but, of course, I second Metroid Prime, but also Star Wars Rouge Leader, The Wind Waker and Timesplitters 2.

If you are a Zelda fan, there was also an non-resalable emulated version of the two N64 Zeldas, OoT and Majora's Mask (as well as the two NES Zeldas). Find it on Ebay under Zelda Collector's Disc (usually selling at 30$+). There were complaints about the Majora's Mask version because of emulation problems, so you might want to wait for it to come out on the VC (where they will very likely fix those troubles), but the downside is then it's stuck on your Wii. I feel more secure having such prized titles on my very own disc. I have control issues.
