I own a Wii but never owned a Gamecube or paid much attention to the system. I am looking to pick up some Gamecube games on the cheap to hold me over while I wait for multiplayer online games to come out for the Wii in the US during Q2 2007.
What Gamecube games would you recommend a Wii owner buy? I am already planning on picking up a used copy of F-Zero GX

mario party is genius multiplayer, but my favourite gamecube game is the warioware one.
Also worth it are star fox assault , super smash bros melee and soul calibur 2, I don't really know what rpgs to recommend though.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will do a little research on the games that have been mentioned.

Yeah the lowest they go is $3.99 (Metroid Prime), most old games are around $7.99, and, in my state, they have a "buy two get a really cheap one free" thing going on.

This is a good thread, as I'm in the same boat as the thread starter and I bet there are many of us out there. I have been out of the console market since the 16 bit generation and then I had a Genesis, no SNES. I'm probably pretty alone in making such a late comeback. Hehehe.

Is there a good website someone can recommend that has objective analysis of these games? I'd like to check on some of these that you guys mention. I suppose I could just use amazon.com.

http://cube.ign.com will provide you with reviews, videos, and screenshots of the games. those games were all generally awarded high reviews so any bias that may exist doesn't matter that much.

You stole mine! How 'bout just goin' to www.nintendo.com ? You can get some good reviews. Also check Nintendo Power (I have been subscribing for 4 years). They have reviews in the back, a game-watch forcast, and an awesome community section!
