Another Ocarina of Time question

I'm doing the happy mask shop sidequest and I can't sell the bunny hood. The gamefaqs (which is FRUSTRATING to follow) just says find the man running around lon lon ranch but I don't see him inside or around the place. what gives?

he's running round all of hyrule, he looks the same as the post man from majoras mask

u can find him sitting down at night by the ranch place

Thanks for the quick replies. Unfortunately neither helped. I tried running around hyrule field randomly - nothing - and I tried looking for him at night but couldn't see him - just zombies. Any more help please?
