But, lets say you are constantly taking your Wii on the road with you to people's houses, then having a wireless one could come in handy as you wouldn't have to disconnect and reroute the wires every time.

ALso, for some people having their Wii close to the TV is not an option so having the wireless sensor bar would be nice.

well it's good for me since I got a Projector and I need to put the Wii @ like 6 meters away from the screen...

so I'm going to buy one! and I got rechargeable batteries so it's not a problem...

Its mostly for projection screens, the wired one cant reach that far. So, yes, there is a point to it.
